Once Kip is in your Slack, a tag in Slack works exactly like a tag in Kip.

Add it (one person, once)

1

Open Kip, then Integrations

Under Kip in Slack, click Add to Slack.
2

Approve in Slack

Sign in to Slack with your work account, the same email you use for Kip, and click Allow.
That’s it. Kip introduces itself in #general, with a link anyone can use to get Kip, joins your public channels and messages you to say it’s ready. Everyone at your company who uses Kip can use it in Slack straight away: there is nothing for them to set up. Each person’s Kip has its own capybara, so you can tell whose Kip is answering.

Use it

Kip answers straight away. You see what it is reading while it works, then the answer and its sources.

Who it answers

  • People at your company with Kip, matched by their Slack work email.
  • Not guests, bots, people from other companies, or anyone without Kip. A tag of someone without Kip is just a Slack tag.
  • Someone without Kip who messages Kip or tags @Kip gets a private note on how to get it.

Privacy

  • Kip reads the channels it is in to spot tags and questions, and answers only people at your company who use Kip. Chat and announcements are left alone. It stores no Slack messages.
  • A teammate’s Kip answers from its owner’s brain and withholds personal information. The answer is posted in the channel where you asked, so ask in a DM or a private channel when the answer should stay small.
  • Private channels: /invite @Kip to use it there.
  • Remove Kip from Slack in your workspace’s app settings. It stops at once.

Credits

Each answer is one credit on the plan of the person who asked, the same as asking in Kip.
